Job Description

The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate the work of all construction substrates in conjunction with the main office.
  • Arrange, monitor and be present for agency inspections.
  • Read and comprehend the information contained in architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and landscape drawings and specifications.
  • Review shop drawings and other reports prepared by testing and inspection agency. Prepare and monitor RFI's.
  • Prepare daily report forms and progress photographs.
  • Oversee all day-to-day field operations to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including short-interval planning and coordination of subcontractor activities.
  • Conduct regular subcontractor coordination meetings to review progress, upcoming work, safety requirements, and potential project challenges.
  • Monitor project milestones and proactively identify and address scheduling conflicts, delays, and productivity issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Perform routine site walks and quality inspections to verify workmanship meets contract documents and company standards.
  • Coordinate delivery, storage, and installation of materials and equipment to minimize disruptions and maintain project progress.
  • Manage punch list activities and oversee project closeout procedures to ensure timely completion and owner satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, safety records, inspection reports, and subcontractor performance records.
  • Review and verify completed work for compliance with approved shop drawings, submittals, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to evaluate cost impacts, change orders, and project risks.
  • Lead site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-construction planning sessions.
  • Mentor and supervise assistant superintendents, field engineers, and other site personnel.
  • Coordinate utility installations, temporary services, and site logistics plans throughout all phases of construction.
  • Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures and corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, inspectors, and local authorities.
  • Anticipate potential field issues and develop solutions that minimize impact on schedule and budget.
  • Verify subcontractor manpower levels are sufficient to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Oversee commissioning, turnover, and warranty activities to ensure a smooth transition to the owner.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement across the project team.

The Successful Applicant

The Senior Superintendent will have:

  • 10+ year's experience in large scale healthcare ground-up construction.
  • Hospital, MOB, or other Healthcare projects $25M+.
  • ICRA knowledge.
  • Complete understanding of the construction process.
  • Must be proficient in reviewing and understanding all construction documents including specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience leading ground-up healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare facility regulations, infection control requirements, and life safety standards.
  • Experience coordinating work within active hospital campuses and occupied healthcare environments.
  • Thorough understanding of AHCA, Joint Commission, FGI Guidelines, and other healthcare construction requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules and multiple subcontractors on large-scale projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising superintendents, field engineers, and subcontractor teams.
  • Expertise in project sequencing, site logistics, and phasing plans to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ability to identify and proactively resolve construction, design, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Experience conducting quality control inspections and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a strong commitment to jobsite safety and compliance.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil plans.
  • Experience with project management and construction software such as Procore, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple project demands.
  • Demonstrated success delivering healthcare projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and trade partners.
  • Experience managing commissioning, turnover, and occupancy processes for healthcare facilities.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures.
  • Ability to mentor and develop field staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with company objectives and project goals.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering healthcare projects exceeding $25M in value.
  • Willingness to travel as required and work extended hours to meet project demands and milestones.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, accountability, and client satisfaction.
