Job Description

As a Senior Superintendent, you'll be the on-site leader responsible for managing all field operations on large-scale mission critical and data center projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead daily site operations from mobilization through commissioning and turnover
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to maintain schedule and quality
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Oversee installation of complex MEP systems and mission critical infrastructure
  • Maintain detailed documentation including daily logs, inspections, and reports
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and commissioning agents
  • Conduct regular site meetings and ensure alignment across all trades
  • Resolve field issues proactively and maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of accountability and excellence
  • Travel to project sites nationwide as needed
  • Drive overall project execution to ensure milestones, schedule commitments, and client expectations are achieved
  • Lead site logistics planning, crane operations, material deliveries, and workforce coordination
  • Manage all aspects of project safety, including site-specific safety plans, audits, and corrective actions
  • Coordinate commissioning activities and support successful startup of critical building systems
  • Oversee implementation of quality control programs and ensure all work meets project specifications
  • Review construction drawings, submittals, RFIs, and design changes to identify potential field impacts
  • Monitor manpower levels and productivity to ensure efficient project execution
  • Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and recovery plans when necessary
  • Facilitate owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractor meetings to drive project alignment
  • Coordinate utility tie-ins, shutdowns, and critical system transitions with minimal risk to operations
  • Ensure proper sequencing of structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and technology installations
  • Manage punch list completion, turnover documentation, and final project closeout activities
  • Support budget objectives by identifying cost-saving opportunities and minimizing rework
  • Partner with procurement teams to proactively address long-lead equipment and material deliveries
  • Lead constructability reviews and identify solutions to complex field challenges
  • Ensure compliance with all local building codes, permitting requirements, and project regulations
  • Coordinate testing and inspection activities with authorities having jurisdiction and third-party consultants
  • Manage high-profile client interactions and provide regular updates on site progress
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and trade partners
  • Train, mentor, and develop Assistant Superintendents and field engineers
  • Champion Lean Construction principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor field productivity metrics and implement corrective measures when necessary
  • Coordinate installation and turnover of switchgear, generators, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, and other critical systems
  • Lead efforts to maintain site security and protect high-value equipment and materials
  • Ensure all commissioning prerequisites are completed in accordance with project requirements
  • Manage fast-track construction schedules in highly demanding and deadline-driven environments
  • Coordinate multi-shift operations and oversee 24/7 construction activities when required
  • Anticipate project risks and develop mitigation strategies before they impact schedule or quality
  • Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, safety, and operational excellence across the entire project team
  • Successfully deliver mission critical facilities that meet the highest standards for reliability, uptime, and performance

The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior Superintendent should have:

  • Proven experience leading and delivering large-scale construction projects, ideally within data centers, mission‑critical facilities, or other high‑complexity environments where precision, reliability, and adherence to strict operational requirements are essential.
  • Strong, comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring every project phase-from planning to commissioning-meets the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team‑building skills, with the ability to guide diverse internal teams, manage subcontractor performance, and collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, vendors, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem‑solving abilities, demonstrating the capacity to anticipate issues, navigate technical and logistical challenges, and make sound decisions quickly in a fast‑paced, dynamic project environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents, ensuring full alignment across scope, schedule, and execution requirements.
  • Strong aptitude for maintaining project control-keeping timelines on track, managing budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring seamless communication throughout the construction lifecycle.
