Job Description

The Construction Superintendent will take ownership of on-site construction activities with a focus on sitework scopes, including earthwork, grading, utilities, stormwater systems, paving, and related civil tasks. This individual will coordinate subcontractors, manage field crews, and ensure all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for sitework scopes
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Oversee earthwork, grading, excavation, underground utilities, and paving operations
  • Interpret and enforce project plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Maintain project schedule, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Conduct daily site inspections and maintain detailed progress reports
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications
  • Lead jobsite meetings and coordinate workflow across trades

The Successful Applicant

Experience: 5+ years of Superintendent or Foreman-level experience with a focus on sitework/civil construction

Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in grading, utilities, drainage systems, excavation, and site development

Leadership: Proven ability to lead crews and manage subcontractors effectively

Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and resolve field issues

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate across teams and stakeholders

Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project timelines

Safety Mindset: Deep commitment to maintaining a safe work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a general contractor
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications
  • OSHA certification (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Local or regional project experience in Delaware or surrounding areas
