Job Description

The Sr. Director of Operations - Federal - Gaithersburg, MD will be responsible for:

  • Provide executive oversight of multiple federal construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Partner closely with the COO and senior leadership team to drive operational excellence and company growth initiatives.
  • Lead project teams to ensure schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client satisfaction objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, profitability, and project delivery performance.
  • Mentor and develop project executives, project managers, and operational staff across the organization.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with federal agencies, government stakeholders, and strategic partners.
  • Support business development efforts, proposal reviews, and project pursuit strategies.
  • Monitor staffing needs and resource allocation to support a growing project backlog.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal contracting requirements, security protocols, and company standards.
  • Serve as a key contributor to long-term organizational planning and succession initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Sr. Director of Operations - Federal - Gaithersburg, MD should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Extensive leadership experience within federal government construction environments.
  • Proven success managing large-scale federal, military, secure, mission-critical, or government facility projects.
  • Strong understanding of federal contracting, compliance requirements, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience leading high-performing operations and project management teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects while driving profitability and operational performance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to successfully pass federal background investigations and maintain access to secure facilities.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
  • Executive-level mindset with the potential to advance into a Chief Operations leadership role.
