Job Description

Innovation & Strategy

  • Lead packaging innovation initiatives, identifying emerging materials, formats, and finishes aligned with a luxury positioning and sustainability goals
  • Build and manage a forward-looking innovation pipeline to maintain competitive differentiation
  • Partner with senior leadership to translate creative direction into manufacturable packaging solutions
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement within the packaging function



Development Execution

  • Own the full packaging development lifecycle-from concept and tooling through production and launch-across all color cosmetic categories
  • Manage complex tooling programs, including injection-molded components, custom compacts, applicators, closures, and soft goods
  • Oversee premium decoration processes such as stamping, UV printing, electroplating, lacquering, embossing, and specialty finishes
  • Ensure all packaging meets functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements across global markets
  • Drive timelines with accountability to support a fast-paced product launch calendar



Supplier & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build and manage relationships with strategic global packaging suppliers across Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
  • Lead supplier negotiations including tooling investment, lead times, quality, and capacity
  • Serve as the primary packaging partner across Product Development, Creative, Operations, and Finance
  • Translate creative briefs into detailed packaging specifications and production-ready solutions



Team & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing packaging engineering team
  • Establish scalable workflows, systems, and best practices to support continued growth
  • Implement tracking systems for tooling, development timelines, and supplier performance across an expanding SKU portfolio

The Successful Applicant

A successful Sr. Director of Packaging Engineering & Innovation should have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in packaging engineering, development, or innovation within cosmetics, beauty, or luxury consumer goods
  • Deep expertise in color cosmetics packaging across face, eye, and lip categories
  • Strong knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes for plastic, glass, metal, and specialty materials
  • Advanced experience with decoration processes including stamp, screen print, electroplating, metallization, coatings, and premium finishes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both long-term innovation pipelines and high-speed development cycles
  • Established relationships with global packaging suppliers, particularly across Asia and Europe
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership to bring product vision to life
  • Strong project management and organizational skills across multiple complex workstreams
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Experience in high-growth or luxury beauty environments strongly preferred
