Job Description

  • Lead the design and development of gearboxes, drivetrain components, and precision mechanical products from initial concept through production release.
  • Develop, refine, and customize designs to meet customer requirements, application demands, performance specifications, manufacturability, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Partner directly with customers, Sales, Application Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop engineered solutions for unique and complex applications.
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, material selection, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to deliver robust, reliable, and production-ready designs.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly documentation, test reports, specifications, and engineering change documentation.
  • Lead and support prototype development, testing, validation, and the successful transition of new and modified products into production.
  • Troubleshoot product, manufacturing, and field-related issues; conduct root cause analyses and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing to optimize CNC machining, assembly processes, quality, cost, manufacturability, and overall product performance.
  • Lead engineering changes from initial design evaluation through implementation, testing, and final validation.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers and other members of the engineering team.
  • Deliver advanced technical support to Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and customers on complex product and application-related issues.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve existing products, engineering processes, manufacturing methods, quality, reliability, and cost

The Successful Applicant

  • B.S in Engineering Required - Mechanical Engineering preferred. Advanced Degree a plus
  • 7-10+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within a precision manufacturing, motion control, power transmission, or automation environment
  • Less years of experience to be considered for candidates with Gear/Gearbox design experience
  • Advanced CAD experience requried - SolidWorks Preferred
  • GD&T Experience
  • CNC Machining process exposure - programming NOT required.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers
  • Specific Design Software preferred: MITCalc, KISSoft, MASTA, Etc
  • Engineering Certification a plus
  • PDL/PLM System experience a plus
