About Our Client

Our client is a powerhouse General Contractor and Construction Management firm based in Alabama. They have an annual revenue exceeding $1B spread across their three divisions of Federal, Commercial, and Industrial with work across the nation. That being said, the company has an immense pipeline of Industrial work in the Southeast and are seeking a qualified Superintendent to run complex manufacturing and warehouse projects in the region.

Although this client is a large firm with thousands of employees nationwide, they have subcultures that allow project teams and regional personnel to remain friendly and personable. Each employee has a direct communication route to their supervisors and beyond, and are valued beyond just the project scope.

Job Description

  • Provide overall field leadership and day-to-day supervision of construction activities.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and direct subcontractors, craft personnel, vendors, and field staff.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with contractual requirements, plans and specifications, applicable codes, and established quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and overall project schedules, including sequencing of trades and critical construction activities.
  • Proactively identify and resolve field issues that could impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Maintain daily field reports, schedule updates, manpower information, and other required project documentation.
  • Implement and enforce project safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in preconstruction, subcontractor, progress, coordination, and owner meetings.
  • Monitor field staffing needs, evaluate performance, and provide leadership and direction to project personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, project team, owner, design team, and subcontractors throughout construction.
  • Manage construction activities associated with secure areas and ensure work complies with project-specific security requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate installation and integration of correctional facility systems, including detention equipment, security electronics, access control, surveillance, communications, and other security-related systems as applicable.
  • Manage complex MEPF coordination and ensure proper integration with security and detention systems.
  • Coordinate phased construction, controlled access, security protocols, and other logistical requirements associated with correctional environments.
  • Oversee punch list, testing, commissioning, inspections, and turnover of secure and operational areas.

The Successful Applicant

  • Ground-Up experience with large projects, commercial or industrial
  • 15+ years of Construction experience with over 10 years as a Superintendent
  • Ability to manage all 16 divisions of the construction process with an emphasis across the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing sectors
  • Technical Savvy individual - Procore experience is a huge plus
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Strong Reputation for working well with Subcontractors
  • Ability to create strong relationships with clients
  • Ability to predict and overcome project challenges
  • Ability to travel as needed
