About Our Client

Our client is a family-oriented construction firm with 25 years of experience and a growing presence in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and life sciences construction markets. Originally founded as a landscaping company, they expanded into construction after securing a major biotech client in 2008 and have since built a strong reputation for delivering lab, pharmaceutical, and life science projects throughout Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts.

With a team of 10-15 employees and approximately $10M in annual revenue, our client offers the resources and equipment of a larger organization while maintaining the flexibility and personal culture of a smaller company. They are continuing to build out their Construction Management division and are looking for someone with experience at a larger GC or CM who wants greater ownership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Job Description

  • Oversee day-to-day construction operations on lab, biotech, pharmaceutical, and life science projects.
  • Lead subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Executive, Project Manager, architects, engineers, and clients.
  • Review plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, sequencing plans, and short-term look-ahead schedules.
  • Monitor quality control and ensure work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and client expectations.
  • Conduct regular site meetings and coordinate activities across multiple trades.
  • Identify potential schedule, safety, and constructability issues and proactively develop solutions.
  • Assist with material procurement, deliveries, logistics, and site coordination.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and ensure subcontractors are following project and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation through Procore and Microsoft Office.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Take on additional Project Management responsibilities as needed based on project requirements and experience.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience: 5+ years of construction experience, ideally in a Superintendent or Project Manager capacity.
  • Project Background: Strong experience with lab, life science, biotech, pharmaceutical, or similar technically complex projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and project documentation.
  • Software: Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership: Able to confidently lead subcontractors and field teams while collaborating with internal leadership.
  • Personality: Self-motivated, team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Communication: Strong communicator who can work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Mindset: Someone who brings ideas to the table, can wear multiple hats, and is comfortable working in a growing organization.
  • Location: Ideally located between Boston and Devens, MA and able to commute to projects throughout the Greater Boston area.
  • Education: Construction Management, Engineering, or a related degree is a plus but not required.
