Job Description

Key Responsibilities of a Building and Construction Superintendent:

  • Manage daily construction site operations from groundbreaking through project completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure milestone achievement.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections and oversee quality control processes.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to align field activities with project objectives.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Lead jobsite meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve field issues proactively.
  • Monitor manpower, equipment, and material usage.
  • Maintain accurate project reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Ensure projects meet client expectations and contractual requirements.

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial construction.
  • Proven success managing projects valued at $5M+.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractor trades simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage schedules, deadlines, and changing project priorities.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
