Job Description

They are looking for a Superintendent who knows how to run the field.

Someone who can walk onto a project, understand what needs to happen, build the right team, establish production, anticipate problems, and keep the work moving.

As Superintendent, you will have direct responsibility for field execution.

  • Foremen, crews, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Daily production and work sequencing
  • Manpower and equipment planning
  • Short-term and long-term field schedules
  • Site logistics and construction operations
  • Safety, quality, and production standards
  • Subcontractor performance and accountability
  • Coordination with Project Managers, inspectors, engineers, and clients
  • Quantities, production tracking, daily reports, and as-builts
  • Field problem-solving and schedule recovery
  • Development of foremen and field personnel



You will be expected to make decisions, solve problems, and keep the project moving.

They don't need someone waiting for instructions when the field needs a decision.Projects can involve multiple crews, subcontractors, complex staging, demanding schedules, and significant production requirements.

You should be able to:

  • Run a major heavy-civil project without being micromanaged.
  • Lead multiple crews and foremen effectively.
  • Understand construction means, methods, sequencing, and production.
  • Read plans and specifications and translate them into executable field operations.
  • Recognize problems before they become delays or cost issues.
  • Hold subcontractors and field personnel accountable.
  • Understand how manpower, equipment, materials, and sequencing affect production.
  • Communicate effectively with ownership, Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, clients, and crews.
  • Maintain control of safety, quality, schedule, and production.
  • Develop people and build strong field teams.



Required Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive heavy-civil construction experience, including substantial Superintendent or senior field leadership experience.
  • Proven experience independently running major heavy-civil projects.
  • Experience leading multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • Strong experience in several of the following: earthwork, grading, underground utilities, drainage, asphalt, concrete, roadway construction, bridges, environmental construction, and large-scale site development.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Experience with field documentation, production tracking, quantities, and daily reporting.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between active project sites.



DOT, municipal, or other public-sector construction experience is strongly preferred.Who This Role Is For
