We are seeking an experienced Civil Utility Estimator to join a growing construction team specializing in utility infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates while supporting successful project bidding and execution.

Job Description

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility, water, sewer, storm drainage, and civil construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions during the estimating process.
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and clients during bid preparation.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
  • Participate in bid reviews, project handovers, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Ensure estimates align with company standards, project schedules, and profitability goals.

The Successful Applicant

  • Previous estimating experience within civil construction, utility construction, or heavy highway projects.
  • Strong understanding of underground utilities, excavation, grading, and infrastructure construction techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple estimates and meet strict bid deadlines.
  • Knowledge of local regulations, safety standards, and construction best practices is preferred.
