We're looking for an experienced Value Stream Manager to lead manufacturing operations within a critical metal production area. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for operational execution, continuous improvement, employee development, and achieving key business performance targets across the value stream.

Job Description



Operational Leadership

  • Lead all manufacturing activities within the assigned value stream to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives.
  • Ensure production resources, staffing levels, and capacity plans are aligned with customer demand and business priorities.
  • Oversee daily execution of production schedules and operational plans.
  • Identify and remove production bottlenecks while implementing sustainable process improvements.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives that improve efficiency, throughput, and overall performance.



People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Supervisors and frontline manufacturing teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Build leadership capability through coaching, development planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace environment focused on employee growth and performance.



Continuous Improvement

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies throughout the value stream.
  • Utilise operational metrics and production data to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and other departments to deliver operational improvements.
  • Lead improvement projects focused on productivity, quality enhancement, cost reduction, and workflow optimisation.



Business Performance

  • Maintain accountability for key operational metrics including:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • On-Time Delivery
    • Productivity
    • Cost Performance
    • Inventory Management
    • Employee Engagement
  • Drive achievement of business objectives through effective leadership, planning, and execution.
  • Monitor performance trends and implement action plans to achieve operational targets.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Previous experience leading supervisors and large manufacturing teams.
  • Background within aerospace, defence, automotive, precision manufacturing, or another highly regulated production environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational performance and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage production schedules, capacity planning, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, and team development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience managing KPIs and driving accountability across a manufacturing operation.
