Job Description

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on US GAAP, advising on complex transactions, accounting policies, and new pronouncements (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments).
  • Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards, including documenting technical memos and ensuring compliance across business units.
  • Partner with finance, legal, regulatory, and business teams to analyze accounting implications of strategic initiatives and transactions.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of technical accounting documentation, ensuring audit readiness and alignment with external auditors.
  • Monitor emerging accounting guidance and regulatory changes, providing thought leadership and proactive recommendations.
  • Support financial reporting teams on complex disclosures and contribute to quarterly and annual filings.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a strong technical accounting culture.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Vice President, Technical Accounting should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus.
  • Proven experience handling complex accounting issues within large financial institutions or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and evolving environment.
