Job Description

This individual will work directly with the firm's partners and play a critical role in building proprietary deal flow, developing intermediary relationships, and supporting the execution of the firm's growth strategy.This is an opportunity for a highly motivated business development professional who enjoys outbound activity, relationship building, and identifying acquisition opportunities before they reach a broad market process.Proprietary Deal Sourcing

  • Develop and execute high-volume outreach campaigns targeting founders, business owners, and executives.
  • Generate and qualify acquisition opportunities through phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and industry networking.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential acquisition targets.
  • Track outreach activity and deal flow within the firm's sourcing systems and CRM.



Intermediary Relationship Management

  • Develop relationships with investment bankers, M&A advisors, business brokers, lenders, accountants, attorneys, and other deal intermediaries.
  • Position the firm as a preferred buyer within targeted sectors.
  • Generate proprietary and limited-process opportunities through ongoing market coverage.



Industry & Market Development

  • Conduct industry mapping and market research to identify fragmented sectors and attractive acquisition targets.
  • Monitor emerging trends, competitive activity, and acquisition opportunities within target markets.
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, and industry events to establish new relationships and expand sourcing channels.



Partner Collaboration

  • Work closely with the firm's partners and investment professionals to evaluate opportunities and refine target criteria.
  • Assist in developing acquisition theses and sourcing strategies for new investment themes.
  • Maintain organized reporting on pipeline activity, sourcing metrics, and relationship development efforts.



Technology & Process Improvement

  • Leverage AI, automation, and data-driven tools to improve prospecting efficiency and outreach effectiveness.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance sourcing workflows, market intelligence, and business development processes.

The Successful Applicant

A successful VP - Private Equity Acquisition should have:

  • 4-8 years of experience in business development, deal sourcing, origination, private equity.
  • Demonstrated success generating business opportunities through proactive outreach and relationship development.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with a high-volume, outbound-focused environment.
  • Ability to build credibility with founders, executives, and transaction intermediaries.
  • Interest in private equity, acquisitions, and lower-middle-market businesses.
  • Highly entrepreneurial, self-directed, and motivated by results.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled prospecting, workflow automation, or data tools is a plus.
