Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, field teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting Project Managers throughout all phases of construction, from preconstruction and estimating through project closeout.
  • Coordinating with Superintendents and project teams to ensure successful project execution, quality control, and client satisfaction.
  • Managing project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and closeout documentation.
  • Maintaining organized project files and ensuring all documentation follows company standards and procedures.
  • Tracking outstanding items, proactively following up with project partners, and helping keep projects on schedule.
  • Assisting with subcontractor invoicing, payment applications, and coordination with the accounting team.
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of project budgets, schedules, drawings, contracts, and procurement strategies.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and overall project efficiency.
  • Supporting multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced team environment.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial construction project coordination, assistant project management, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting commercial interiors, hospitality, restaurant, retail, or historic renovation projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling tools including Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is a plus.
  • Experience using Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, or similar document management software is advantageous.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to client service.
