Job Description

The responsibilities of an Assistant Project Manager:

  • Assist Project Managers with all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop purchasing schedules and help anticipate procurement challenges early in the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with estimating, purchasing, field operations, and subcontractors to support project success
  • Partner with Superintendents to maintain accurate schedules and project milestones
  • Track project costs, budgets, change orders, and financial performance
  • Support requisitioning, billing, collections, and payment processes
  • Review construction documents and help manage project execution activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and design partners
  • Help identify project risks and proactively contribute to solutions
  • Support project documentation, reporting, and overall project administration

The Successful Applicant

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience with a commercial general contractor
  • Experience supporting commercial construction projects, preferably ground-up construction
  • Open to candidates with new construction or large-scale renovation experience
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, means and methods, and project sequencing
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar platforms
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost tracking, pay applications, and change orders
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
