We are seeking a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role will partner closely with Project Managers and field teams to coordinate project documentation, manage project controls, track schedules, facilitate communication with stakeholders, and support overall project execution. The position offers a strong path toward future Project Management responsibilities.

Job Description

  • Support Project Managers throughout all phases of construction.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Assist with project scheduling, planning, and coordination activities.
  • Maintain project records and document control systems.
  • Coordinate communication between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement and contract administration.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify potential schedule or cost impacts.
  • Participate in project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Track material procurement and lead times.
  • Assist with budget management, forecasting, and cost reporting.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list management, and turnover documentation.
  • Promote quality standards and adherence to safety requirements.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-5 years of commercial construction experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Coordinator, or related role.
  • Internship experience with a commercial general contractor will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to develop into a Project Manager role.
