The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the execution of fast-paced renovation, tenant improvement, healthcare, retail, and special projects throughout North and South Carolina. Unlike traditional large-project environments, Rycon's Special Projects Group provides APMs with significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and broad exposure to estimating, operations, budgeting, and project management.

Job Description

What Makes the Special Projects Group Unique?The Special Projects Group focuses on projects typically under $10 million, including:

  • Fast-Track Commercial Work



Because these projects move quickly and require high-touch client service, team members gain broad experience across all phases of construction.In this role, you will:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Respond quickly to client requests and project needs
  • Assist with budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and procurement
  • Support project financial tracking and reporting
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and consultants
  • Participate in client meetings and project updates
  • Assist with contract administration, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Support projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop the skills necessary to transition into a Project Manager role

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience in commercial construction as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role
  • Background supporting projects under $10M preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and client-facing abilities
  • Detail-oriented and proactive mindset
  • Desire to advance into a Project Manager position within the near future
  • Experience with renovations, tenant improvements, healthcare, retail, or commercial projects preferred
