The company is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of interiors and TI construction projects while developing into a broader project management role. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents while gaining hands-on experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, documentation, and client relationships.

Job Description

What will you be doing?The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management and successful completion of commercial construction projects. You will coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with project requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Project Managers with the daily management of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Attend job walks, project meetings, and site coordination meetings.
  • Identify qualified subcontractors and assist with preparing and distributing bidder RFPs.
  • Review and qualify subcontractor bids.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Prepare subcontractor agreements and ensure insurance and compliance documentation remains current.
  • Assist with the permitting process and coordination of city inspections.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, project reports, and weekly status updates.
  • Identify, track, and assist with the preparation and processing of potential change orders.
  • Assist Project Managers with maintaining project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.
  • Track and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, and other project documentation.
  • Review plans and specifications and assist in identifying potential project issues.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation is properly coded and distributed.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, architects, engineers, and clients.
  • Assist with punch list development, tracking, and completion.
  • Support project closeout activities, including turnover documentation and final project requirements.
  • Work closely with Superintendents to coordinate field activities and resolve project issues.
  • Help ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements
  • Utilize construction management software and Microsoft Office tools to maintain accurate project records.

The Successful Applicant

  • 3-5 years of commercial construction experience, with previous experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction principles, techniques, procedures, estimating, scheduling, and project administration.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and estimating tools such as Microsoft Project and On-Screen Takeoff is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction-site environments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assignments and follow projects through to completion.
  • Interest in developing leadership skills and mentoring Project Engineers, interns, and other emerging construction professionals.
