We are seeking a Civil Construction Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and site development projects throughout South Jersey. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Description

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of civil construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily project activities with field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Track project costs, quantities, change orders, and potential risks.
  • Support procurement efforts by obtaining and managing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Monitor project quality control and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Assist with project forecasting, resource allocation, and productivity tracking.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion and final documentation.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Civil Project Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 2-7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, site development, utilities, roadway, bridge, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and project management practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction best practices.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout South Jersey.
