This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CMM and automated inspection programs for medium to highly complex machined components. You'll partner closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to drive accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across inspection systems.

Job Description

  • Develop new and enhance existing CMM and gauge inspection programs using CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Create intuitive operator prompts and standardized programming best practices
  • Prove out inspection programs, perform GR&R studies, and correlate automated and mechanical inspection results
  • Train and mentor junior programmers on inspection systems and methodologies
  • Support mechanical inspection, system verification, and evaluation of new inspection technologies
  • Analyze and communicate inspection data through reports, SPC, and graphical analysis
  • Manage CMM hardware, stylus systems, troubleshooting, vendor support, and new equipment implementation
  • Design and oversee fixturing solutions for complex automated inspection applications
  • Author and maintain ISO and inspection-related documentation
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and quality initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineering on drawing changes and manufacturability feedback

The Successful Applicant

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience programming CMM or automated inspection software
  • 6+ years of mechanical inspection or equivalent quality experience
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
  • Experience with CMM software (e.g., Calypso, PC-DMIS, Modus, ATOS) and CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a manufacturing environment and standing for extended periods
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
