This Controller will lead property accounting and financial reporting across a growing NYC multifamily portfolio, overseeing the full close process, property-level financials, GAAP compliance, reconciliations, A/P, A/R, cash management, and regulatory reporting. The role will also manage and mentor a team of property accountants, oversee Yardi, partner with Asset Management, and drive process improvements and stronger internal controls.
  • High level role with a well known company.
  • Exposure to the CFO and CEO.

About Our Client

The client is a New York City-based, vertically integrated real estate investment and services firm focused on multifamily properties, with expertise across property management, asset management, construction management, leasing, and accounting. The firm takes a technology- and data-driven approach to real estate operations, using proprietary analytics and reporting to support both its own investments and institutional and family-office clients.

Job Description

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting function for a multifamily real estate portfolio, including cash reconciliations, A/P, A/R, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate GAAP-based reporting for property owners and institutional partners.
  • Utilize Yardi Voyager to manage property-level accounting and financial reporting.
  • Support accounting and reporting across a vertically integrated platform covering property management, asset management, construction, and leasing operations.
  • Help maintain strong financial controls and clean accounting records while providing ownership with visibility into property performance. The financial-controls portion is my suggested framing for a Controller-level position; the company specifically highlights clean A/P and A/R, reconciled cash, reporting, and owner visibility

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate will be a hands-on real estate accounting professional with strong experience overseeing property-level financial reporting, cash reconciliations, A/P, A/R, and GAAP-based reporting. Experience with multifamily real estate and Yardi Voyager would align especially well with the firm's accounting platform and portfolio. They should be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven real estate environment, with the ability to maintain accurate financials and provide clear reporting to ownership and investment partners. The soft-skill description is my suggested positioning for the Controller profile.
