Job Description

The Controls Engineer will report into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Design and develop control systems for industrial automation equipment.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, machine vision systems, and industrial networks.
  • Assist with robotic system integration and automated production equipment.
  • Support machine startup, commissioning, and field troubleshooting activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve controls-related issues during machine builds and customer installations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain technical documentation, software backups, and revision control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability and performance.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience.
  • Experience programming PLCs and HMIs, preferably Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Robotics, machine vision, pneumatics, and motion control systems.
  • Industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and ProfiNet.
  • Ignition HMI development.
  • Servo systems, VFDs, and machine commissioning experience.
