Job Description

Business Development & Pipeline Growth

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify, engage, and qualify new prospects across targeted industries
  • Partner closely with independent sales representatives to coach, guide, and support prospecting efforts
  • Establish a structured lead qualification process to evaluate customer fit, technical feasibility, scope, and revenue potential
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline that balances near-term opportunities with long-term strategic growth initiatives



Long-Cycle Sales Management

  • Lead prospects through the complete sales cycle, from initial engagement through RFQ, quoting, sampling, development, and production launch
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to develop customer solutions and manufacturing plans
  • Build business cases for strategic opportunities requiring capital investment and organizational resources
  • Manage customer communications, project timelines, and development milestones throughout the sales process
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact until successful transition to operations and production teams
  • Support contract negotiations and commercial agreement discussions



Market Expansion & Diversification

  • Identify and develop opportunities within aerospace & defense, medical device, transportation, industrial equipment, data center, and adjacent manufacturing markets
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends
  • Partner with marketing and leadership teams to develop targeted business development campaigns



Forecasting, Reporting & Strategy

  • Provide monthly forecasting on pipeline activity, new business opportunities, quoting activity, and projected revenue
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage opportunities and sales activity
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on annual growth plans, strategic initiatives, pricing, and resource allocation

The Successful Applicant

A successful Director of Business Development - Contract Manufacturing/Aerospace should have:

  • Proven success in business development, sales leadership, or strategic account growth within contract manufacturing, precision machining, metal fabrication, or aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Strong experience developing new business opportunities and managing complex sales cycles
  • Demonstrated ability to build executive-level customer relationships and negotiate commercial agreements
  • Knowledge of aerospace & defense manufacturing markets and related customer requirements
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align growth initiatives with broader business objectives
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and leadership teams
  • Interest in becoming an active member of the Rochester leadership team and relocating to the area
