The Docketing and Court Filing Clerk will be responsible for managing and maintaining legal documents, ensuring timely and accurate court filings, and supporting the legal team's administrative needs. This role requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of legal procedures and deadlines. The ideal candidate brings experience from a Managing Attorney's office, ideally within a Big Law environment.

This role is with a top ranked global law firm and sits within the Managing Attorney's office. The team is 10 people in New York City. This role is in-office three days a week in Midtown, Manhattan.

Job Description

  • Maintain and manage the docketing system to track critical dates and deadlines.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other relevant authorities in a timely manner.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of legal filings and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure compliance with court requirements.
  • Monitor and update case records and filing statuses regularly.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal teams regarding court filings and deadlines.
  • Stay updated on changes to court rules and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the legal department as needed.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Docketing and Court Filing Clerk should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Managing Attorney's office.
  • Experience using CourtAlert.
  • Extensive experience in electronic filing (CM/ECF, NYSCEF, and ACMS).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using docketing software and legal databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with legal teams.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
