The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design and development of electrical systems for custom industrial machinery. This individual will work closely with a team of experienced electrical engineers and cross-functional engineering groups to develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and machine-level electrical designs.

Our client is a well-established industrial equipment manufacturer that designs and builds complex custom machinery for customers across a variety of industrial and manufacturing markets. The organization has a long history of engineering innovation and provides end-to-end solutions including design, manufacturing, automation, and equipment integration. Due to continued growth and long-term succession planning within the engineering organization, they are seeking a Electrical Engineer to join their team in Rhode Island.

Job Description

  • Design electrical systems for custom industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Develop and update electrical documentation using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Specify and integrate Allen-Bradley PLC hardware, control components, and related electrical devices.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders throughout the design process.
  • Support equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical problem solving as needed.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and internal engineering practices.
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Associate degree with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, ideally within an OEM manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery or automated equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical schematics
    • Control panel design and layouts
    • Industrial electrical components
    • Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and controls
  • Proficiency with at least one of the following:
    • EPLAN
    • AutoCAD Electrical
    • SolidWorks Electrical
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented engineering environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
