This onsite NPI Engineering Manager role is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering activities supporting new product introduction and ongoing production for precision optical and photonic products. The position plays a critical role in process development, scalability, quality, and cost control while partnering closely with design engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain.

Job Description



Responsibilities:

  • Lead development, validation, and implementation of manufacturing processes for optical and photonic components and assemblies
  • Drive NPI, technology transfer, and production scale-up activities
  • Ensure robust process documentation including travelers, routings, work instructions, and SOPs
  • Partner with design engineering on DFM/DFA initiatives
  • Manage, mentor, and develop manufacturing engineers and technicians
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Support compliance with industry and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, MIL, ITAR)
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for complex manufacturing and yield issues
  • Support audits, corrective actions, and capital equipment justifications

The Successful Applicant



Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Prior experience supporting NPI in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to optical or precision manufacturing processes strongly preferred
  • Proven people management or team leadership experience
  • Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience
