Job Description

  • Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design-development, and hard-bid estimates for commercial construction projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for all construction trades and disciplines.
  • Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Develop detailed cost breakdowns, budgets, scopes of work, and bid packages.
  • Identify project risks, pricing gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executive leadership during preconstruction planning.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of labor trends, material pricing, and market conditions.
  • Assist with change order pricing, budgeting, and project cost analysis when needed.
  • Support client presentations and participate in project interviews.
  • Ensure bids are completed accurately and submitted within established deadlines.

The Successful Applicant

  • 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.
  • Experience preparing estimates for ground-up and renovation commercial projects.
  • Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region.
