Job Description

  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure comprehensive and competitive pricing.
  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design-development, and final estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and owners during the preconstruction process.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, bid summaries, and estimate documentation.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, qualifications packages, and client presentations.
  • Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material pricing to maintain estimate accuracy.
  • Support contract negotiations and project handoff activities upon award.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building systems, and project delivery practices.
  • Experience estimating projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, higher education, retail, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, cost databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
