We are seeking a senior-level General Superintendent to provide oversight, leadership, and strategic support across a diverse portfolio of construction projects throughout the Washington, DC metro area. This role focuses on mentoring superintendents, identifying project risks, strengthening field operations, and ensuring successful project execution across multiple active jobs.

Job Description

The General Superintendent will:

  • Oversee multiple active construction projects simultaneously throughout Washington, DC and the surrounding Beltway region.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to field superintendents and project teams.
  • Identify operational gaps, project risks, and resource needs across the portfolio.
  • Support field teams with planning, scheduling, means and methods, logistics, and project execution strategies.
  • Assist superintendents in resolving subcontractor performance issues and field challenges.
  • Evaluate project health and determine where leadership support can have the greatest impact.
  • Drive consistency in field operations, safety, quality, and project delivery standards.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership and operations teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Maintain visibility across all active projects while respecting the autonomy and experience of individual project teams.
  • Support construction efforts across food & beverage, hospitality, commercial interiors, restaurant, restoration, rehabilitation, and revitalization projects.

The Successful Applicant

A successful General Superintendent should have:

  • Senior Superintendent-level experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to oversee four to five active projects at one time.
  • Experience leading field operations for commercial construction projects.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
  • Ability to identify project gaps, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • High emotional intelligence with a collaborative and service-oriented leadership style.
  • Ability to support multiple project teams while balancing competing priorities.
