This individual will serve as the primary on-site leader, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule while working closely with a Project Manager who provides weekly oversight and support.

About Our Client

Our client is a growing and well-respected General Contractor specializing in commercial and industrial construction projects across New Jersey. Their portfolio consists primarily of ground-up and interior renovation projects ranging from $5 million to $15 million, with experience spanning self-storage, warehouse, commercial, industrial, and select mixed-use developments.

Job Description

  • Manage all daily on-site construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure work progresses according to established milestones.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor quality, safety, productivity, and project progress.
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure proper execution.
  • Coordinate inspections, material deliveries, and site logistics.
  • Assist in the management and resolution of field issues, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Maintain daily reports, manpower logs, and project documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, who will attend weekly site meetings and provide overall project oversight.
  • Utilize Procore and other construction management software to track project documentation, schedules, and communication.
  • Lead project closeout efforts, punch list completion, and final inspections.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Ground Up Superintendent should have:

  • 3-5+ years of Superintendent or field leadership experience with a General Contractor.
  • Experience managing commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Strong background overseeing both ground-up and interior renovation projects.
  • Experience on projects valued between $5 million and $15 million.
  • Self-storage construction experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Ability to independently run day-to-day site operations with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, quality control, safety management, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents and coordinating field activities.
  • Procore experience is a significant plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stable work history demonstrating successful project delivery.
