Job Description

The responsibilities of the Flexographic Ink Customer Technician are:

  • Provide on‑site technical support at customer printing facilities, supporting flexographic presses across narrow, mid‑web, and wide‑web applications.
  • Assist customers with ink formulation adjustments, color matching, and press‑side optimization to meet print quality and performance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot printing issues related to color consistency, adhesion, viscosity, drying, dot gain, and press setup.
  • Conduct press trials, product qualifications, and new ink introductions in collaboration with internal technical and sales teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer formulations, trials, corrective actions, and technical recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve ink performance, reduce waste, and enhance press efficiency.
  • Train customer operators and supervisors on ink handling, color control, and best‑practice procedures.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal departments including manufacturing, R&D, quality, and sales.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards when handling inks and chemicals.
  • Travel to customer sites as required within an assigned territory.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Flexographic Ink Customer Technician will have the following:

    • Associate's degree or technical certification in Printing Technology, Chemical Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience supporting flexographic printing operations, preferably in packaging or commercial printing.
    • Strong working knowledge of flexographic inks, substrates, anilox systems, and press mechanics.
    • Experience with color matching, color measurement (spectrophotometers), and color management systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex press and ink‑related challenges in a fast‑paced production environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
    • Willingness to travel regularly to customer locations.
