Build projects that strengthen local communities.Our client is a well-established General Contractor with a strong presence in the Greater Chicago construction market, specializing in K-12 schools, municipal facilities, and other public-sector projects. Due to continued growth and a healthy backlog of work, they are looking to add an experienced Project Manager to their team.

This position is ideal for a construction professional who enjoys managing educational and civic projects from preconstruction through completion while collaborating with owners, architects, and field personnel. Experience working with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) or other public agencies is highly preferred.

Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading construction projects through every phase of the project lifecycle while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule expectations are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage K-12 school, municipal, and other public-sector construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project reporting.
  • Monitor project costs and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, design teams, and public agencies throughout the duration of each project.
  • Ensure all work complies with contract documents, safety standards, and local building regulations.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed, including value engineering and constructability reviews.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience with a General Contractor.
  • Experience managing K-12, municipal, or other public-sector construction projects.
  • Experience working with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of public bidding processes and occupied renovation projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
