Job Description

  • Lead the execution of high-voltage transmission line and substation projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall financial performance.
  • Oversee projects involving 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 161kV, 230kV, 345kV, and 500kV infrastructure.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for utility, renewable energy, industrial, and EPC clients.
  • Develop project execution strategies and resource plans for multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, protection & control, transmission line, environmental, and construction disciplines.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings, client status meetings, and executive-level progress reviews.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget performance.
  • Manage engineering deliverables, procurement support, construction coordination, and commissioning activities.
  • Review contracts, manage scope changes, negotiate change orders, and oversee project financial forecasting.
  • Coordinate with utility companies regarding outages, permitting, right-of-way activities, and energization schedules.
  • Mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and engineering staff while supporting leadership initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company QA/QC standards, OSHA requirements, NESC, NEC, IEEE, and client specifications.
  • Support business development through proposal reviews, client relationship management, and pursuit strategy.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Lead Project Manager - Transmission & Substation should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience managing electric utility transmission and substation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects within utility, EPC, or engineering consulting environments.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from 69kV-500kV.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission line and substation engineering, construction, and utility operations.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and client communications.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration and change management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
