Job Description

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the engineering and design of overhead transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV+.
  • Provide technical oversight for routing, structure selection, conductor selection, foundation design coordination, and line optimization.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and project deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, utility standards, and industry best practices.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering work products.



Project Management

  • Manage multiple transmission line projects simultaneously.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, subcontractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve technical and project-related issues.
  • Support project risk assessments and mitigation strategies.



Team Leadership

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional development support.
  • Lead design reviews and project meetings.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.



Client Relations & Business Development

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients.
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, fee estimates, and project pursuits.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and business growth.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Lead Transmission Line Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of transmission line engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission line design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
  • Experience with overhead transmission systems from 69kV through 500kV+.
  • Knowledge of NESC, ASCE 10, and utility design standards.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex utility projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
