Highly successful global company - role based in their Canada HQ in Toronto. Working in a collaborative legal department, directly with the General Counsel and senior business stakeholders.

Job Description

The varied Legal Counsel responsibilities include:

  • Advise on varied legal matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks for the company.
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide proactive legal support.
  • Handle legal disputes and liaise with external counsel as needed.
  • Stay updated on legal developments impacting the transport and distribution industry.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on legal issues when necessary.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Legal Counsel should have:

  • JD or LLB.
  • Admitted to the Ontario Law Society (in good standing).
  • 5+ years relevant legal experience (in-house, private practice, or combined).
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts (domestic and international).
  • Ability to identify and manage legal risks and compliance matters effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and handle multiple priorities.
