Job Description

The Managing Director, Relationship Management serves as the primary point of contact for institutional investors and strategic capital partners regarding new and ongoing affordable housing investments. This individual will lead investor relationship management efforts, drive capital formation initiatives, collaborate across multiple internal business functions, and provide a high-touch client experience throughout the investment lifecycleThis role carries significant responsibility for key investor accounts, capital raising strategy, business development, and leadership of strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of investor management, capital raising, relationship development, strategic thinking, and risk assessment within affordable housing or commercial real estate investment platforms

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of high-value institutional investors
  • Manage and grow assigned investor relationships while overseeing capital raising efforts across multiple investor accounts
  • Partner with internal teams across originations, underwriting, project management, asset management, and servicing to ensure exceptional investor service and transaction execution
  • Present and market prospective investment opportunities to investors and secure preliminary investment interest
  • Manage investor communications throughout transaction execution, including underwriting updates, structural changes, and closing milestones
  • Represent investor priorities and perspectives during internal discussions and decision-making processes
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans for assigned investor accounts
  • Support investor due diligence requests and fundraising initiatives for proprietary and institutional investment vehicles
  • Participate in investor meetings, property visits, conferences, industry events, and other relationship-building activities
  • Assist with business development efforts targeting prospective investors and capital partners
  • Mentor and potentially oversee junior team members as business needs require

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Urban Planning, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial real estate investment, lending, development, capital markets, or related fields
  • Direct experience with multifamily real estate underwriting, transaction execution, asset management, or investment management
  • Prior Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience required
  • Demonstrated experience managing institutional investor relationships, or leading client-facing investment initiatives
  • Strong financial analysis, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Prior people management experience is a plus
  • Willingness to travel as needed for investor meetings, site visits, conferences, and industry events
