The Manufacturing Engineering Lead will initially oversee a small team and will play a key role in developing engineering talent while building stronger alignment between engineering and manufacturing. This position offers the opportunity to influence operational performance, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help shape the future structure of the manufacturing engineering function.

Job Description

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure successful implementation of designs, processes, and product improvements.
  • Lead and mentor Manufacturing Engineers and other technical team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Support manufacturing readiness for new products, engineering changes, and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, workflow, and production methods.
  • Partner with design engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop and implement standardized manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to quality, safety, and operational performance.
  • Assist in strategic planning for future manufacturing engineering resources, capabilities, and organizational growth.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Progressive manufacturing engineering experience within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience with direct reports preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process development, and production support.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and quality functions.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Experience with capital equipment manufacturing, industrial machinery, or engineered-to-order products is highly desirable.
  • Extrusion industry experience is a strong plus.
