Job Description

The Plant Engineer is responsible for:

  • Drive initiatives to improve plant performance, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment and production assets.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and repairs with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Develop, implement, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in facility upgrades, equipment modifications, and plant layout improvement projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel and operators.
  • Maintain accurate equipment documentation, maintenance records, and project files.
  • Utilize CMMS software to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and asset information.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to support production objectives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Plant Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with 5+ years of plant engineering experience; or equivalent combination of industrial maintenance and engineering experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatics
    • Motors and controls
    • Material handling and conveyor systems
    • HVAC and facility systems
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic and machine control systems.
  • Experience leading equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility improvement projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
  • Experience within a food, beverage, consumer goods, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with CAD software for facility layouts and equipment modifications.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms such as MaintainX, MP2, or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, or other quality and food safety programmes.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence or equivalent certification is a plus.
