Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of residential and commercial landscaping, hardscaping, and site development projects throughout New Jersey. This role will work closely with project managers, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Description

  • Assist Project Managers in the planning, scheduling, and execution of landscaping and site development projects.
  • Coordinate daily activities between field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and construction documents.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, procurement logs, and progress reports.
  • Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure work is progressing according to project requirements and company quality standards.
  • Support project documentation including RFIs, change orders, submittals, permits, and closeout documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with estimating and design teams during project handoff and execution phases.
  • Identify project risks and recommend solutions to minimize delays and cost overruns.
  • Attend project meetings and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain accurate project records using project management and reporting software.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Construction, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-5 years of project engineering, construction, landscaping, site development, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, and construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with project management software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of landscaping, hardscaping, irrigation, or site development projects is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey.
