Our client is a highly respected commercial general contractor with a longstanding reputation for delivering complex, award-winning projects throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. With approximately 160 employees and strong revenue growth, the organization continues to expand while maintaining the collaborative culture and accessibility often lost at larger firms. The Project Executive will play a critical leadership role in driving project execution, supporting client relationships, and developing the next generation of construction leaders. This Project Executive position offers direct involvement with high-profile projects across higher education, healthcare, multifamily, life sciences, hospitality, office, and commercial sectors.

Job Description

  • Provide executive oversight of large-scale commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Lead project teams delivering complex higher education projects and other commercial developments ranging from $20M to $200M+.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
  • Drive project profitability, risk management, scheduling, quality control, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and other team members while fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to long-term client relationship growth.
  • Partner closely with preconstruction and operations leadership to ensure project success from pursuit through completion.
  • Provide strategic direction and executive decision-making throughout all phases of construction.
  • Ensure every Project Executive assignment meets client expectations while achieving financial and operational goals.
  • Act as a trusted leader both internally and externally, representing the company with a high level of professionalism and accountability.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-12+ years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale projects exceeding $30M in value.
  • Extensive experience managing higher education projects from inception through completion.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple stakeholders while maintaining client satisfaction and project profitability.
  • Strong leadership experience managing project teams and developing construction professionals.
  • Executive-level communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong understanding of Primavera scheduling and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
