Job Description

The Project Manager - Historic Restoration / Interiors - MD will:

  • Manage full project lifecycle including preconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout
  • Oversee 2-3 concurrent projects across historic restoration and interior construction scopes
  • Lead buyouts, contracts, change orders, and cost controls to protect margins and schedules
  • Coordinate daily with Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors
  • Collaborate with architects, preservation consultants, agencies, and ownership teams
  • Interpret historic drawings, surveys, and condition assessments to guide construction decisions
  • Navigate agency reviews, approvals, and preservation requirements common to historic projects
  • Oversee quality control including mock‑ups, test panels, inspections, and finish standards
  • Ensure compliance with approved preservation methods, materials, and documentation
  • Manage projects on occupied, phased, or sensitive sites with strong safety and protection plans
  • Drive schedules and budgets in complex, high‑touch environments
  • Deliver polished, high‑end interior finishes with a strong attention to detail

The Successful Applicant

The Project Manager - Historic Restoration / Interiors - MD will have:

  • 7-10+ years of experience as a Construction Project Manager
  • 3-5+ years managing historic preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation projects
  • Experience working in historic urban markets (DC preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously at varying phases
