Job Description

As a Building and Construction Project Manager - Rochester, NY, you will:

  • Manage projects from award through final closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, and consultants
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement activities
  • Monitor project financial performance and forecasting
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to ensure successful field execution
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and contractual requirements
  • Support project turnover, punch-list completion, and closeout documentation

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Building and Construction Project Manager - Rochester, NY candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction
  • Proven success managing projects from preconstruction through completion
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Experience working with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • A track record of building strong client and subcontractor relationships



Highly Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous field experience prior to moving into project management
  • Experience as a tradesperson, Foreman, Superintendent, or similar hands-on construction role
  • Masonry background strongly preferred
  • Significant multi-family construction experience
  • Experience managing apartment, residential, mixed-use, or multi-family developments
  • Experience working with well-respected regional or national construction firms
  • Strong understanding of both field operations and project management processes



Candidates who began their careers in the field, particularly those with masonry experience, and later transitioned into project management or field leadership roles will be highly attractive for this position. Likewise, candidates with substantial multi-family construction experience and a history of working for reputable contractors will stand out.
