Job Description

  • Lead and maintain the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS), serving as the primary contact for audits and certification bodies
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and release of manufactured components, ensuring product conformity and quality standards
  • Prepare and review First Article Inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), utilizing structured root cause methodologies such as 8D and 5-Why
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities and manage disposition of nonconforming materials
  • Partner with procurement to evaluate, audit, and approve suppliers while ensuring compliance with AMS and ASTM standards
  • Manage calibration systems and ensure accuracy of measurement equipment (gages, micrometers, CMMs, etc.)
  • Supervise, train, and mentor quality personnel, fostering a high-performance team environment
  • Track and report key quality metrics including KPIs and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and operations to improve quality outcomes
  • Continuously improve processes, inspection methods, and documentation workflows

The Successful Applicant

  • 5-10 years of quality experience in a manufacturing or machining environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems; audit experience required
  • Hands-on experience with inspection processes, measurement equipment, and calibration systems
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing FAI reports (AS9102)
  • Experience leading CAPA programs and root cause analysis initiatives
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards, including NADCAP and FAA requirements
  • Knowledge of machining processes (Swiss CNC machining preferred)
  • Understanding of material standards such as AMS and ASTM
  • Experience with SPC and statistical analysis preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality software tools (e.g., GAGE Trak or similar)
