R&D Engineer - Chicago

• Lead the development and introduction of innovative products for both existing markets and emerging applications.
• Oversee mechanical engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring technical and business objectives are achieved.
• Plan, execute, and document validation testing for new designs and product enhancements.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for future product offerings.
• Assess customer requirements and translate application needs into effective engineering solutions.
• Facilitate research and development initiatives across teams to support product innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive value-engineering efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities and incorporating them into product designs.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including engineering analyses and laboratory testing summaries.
• Compile supporting technical data and records related to intellectual property and patent submissions.
• Coordinate the successful launch of new or modified products into production, including goal setting, team training, and performance evaluation.
• Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and engineering teams to optimize product designs, tooling strategies, and production efficiency.
• Manage product certification activities, including regulatory testing, agency submissions, and compliance approvals with organizations such as ETL and UL.
• Travel as needed to support project, supplier, customer, or testing requirements, up to approximately 20%.
