Join a leading rail and transit technology manufacturer as a Reliability Engineer responsible for reliability measurement, failure trend analysis, and contractual compliance across critical transportation programs. This role will own FRACAS processes, MTBF/MDBF reporting, corrective action effectiveness, and cross-functional reliability initiatives that directly support customer satisfaction and operational performance.

Job Description

  • Own reliability measurement, analysis, trending, and reporting across key projects and product lines
  • Calculate and report MTBF, MDBF, and other contractual reliability KPIs
  • Monitor compliance with reliability requirements, fleet-defect thresholds, and failure-trend triggers
  • Identify emerging reliability risks and proactively escalate concerns
  • Serve as the primary owner of reliability data integrity and reconciliation activities
  • Coordinate with customers, transit authorities, engineering, quality, field service, and project teams
  • Maintain and improve FRACAS processes and reliability tracking systems
  • Analyze recurring failures and identify statistically significant trends
  • Lead and coordinate FAR activities, corrective actions, and validation efforts
  • Prepare monthly reliability reports and present performance trends to leadership
  • Support Failure Review Board activities with actionable, fact-based reliability analysis
  • Lead root-cause investigations and coordinate technical subject matter experts
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including DMAIC principles
  • Measure and validate the effectiveness of corrective actions through statistical analysis
  • Support customer discussions by providing accurate and traceable reliability data
  • Travel to customer sites, rail yards, and operational facilities as required
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and performance optimization

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of reliability engineering, RAM/RAMS, FRACAS, quality, or related experience
  • Experience within rail, transportation, fleet equipment, or other contract-driven reliability environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of reliability metrics, failure-rate analysis, Weibull analysis, and reliability modeling
  • Experience with FRACAS, FAR, root-cause analysis, and corrective action programs
  • Advanced analytical and data reconciliation capabilities
  • Proficiency with Excel and data analysis/reporting tools
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings to both customers and leadership teams
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and project coordination skills
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy, traceability, and data integrity
