Job Description

The Safety Engineer/Coordinator will:

  • Support the implementation and enforcement of site-specific safety plans on active construction projects.
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections, safety walks, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Assist with preconstruction safety planning, subcontractor onboarding, and risk mitigation reviews.
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and daily safety briefings for field teams.
  • Maintain safety documentation including audits, training records, incident reports, permits, and corrective action logs.
  • Partner with superintendents, project managers, and field personnel to identify and eliminate potential safety risks.
  • Assist in investigating incidents and near misses while documenting findings and tracking corrective actions.
  • Monitor PPE compliance and adherence to all site safety requirements.
  • Promote and reinforce a positive, engaging, and accountable safety culture across project teams.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Safety Engineer/Coordinator should have:

  • 2+ years of construction safety experience.
  • Experience working for a general contractor or relevant construction subcontractor.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA compliance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership.
  • Willingness to support projects throughout the NoVA/DC region.
