Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to company ownership, the Senior Accountant will take ownership of the full accounting cycle while establishing scalable financial processes and controls. This role offers the opportunity to shape the accounting function within a growing construction environment.

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll oversight, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Manage project accounting, job costing, construction billing, and revenue recognition activities across multiple projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Work-in-Progress reporting and project performance analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow, produce forecasts, and support budgeting and financial planning initiatives.
  • Implement accounting policies, internal controls, reporting structures, and best practices as accounting functions transition in-house.
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to leadership by providing analysis, recommendations, and operational insights.

For the Senior Accountant role we are seeking:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, Work-in-Progress reporting, construction billing, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience supporting multi-project construction environments.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with construction accounting software, ideally Sage 100 Contractor or comparable platforms.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration, tax compliance, and 1099 reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior leadership.
  • Self-starter mentality with experience building processes and improving controls within a growing business.
