The Senior Controller will oversee all financial operations and a team of 12 people. The client are looking for a leader that can ensure accurate reporting and compliance within the real estate, property and housing management industry. The successful candidate MUST be from a multifamily/residential property management company, and have prior experience managing a large team. The role is based in Chelsea, Manhattan (NYC).

About Our Client

The business are a fast-paced and lean organization, that are looking for a new leader to help manage the full accounting and finance department. he Senior Controller will report directly into the COO, will oversee a team of 12 (mainly made up of Property Accountants) and develop a number of systems and processes for the business. The successful candidate MUST have a background in real estate/property management and looking to join a fast growing organization. They have hybrid working (4 days per week in the office).

Job Description

  • Lead and manage the company's accounting and financial reporting processes.
  • Managing a portfolio of over 150 NYC buildings (multifamily and residential).
  • Oversee the full client accounting function, as well as the corporate accounting team.
  • Main POC for any finance queries.
  • Oversee a team of 10-12 people.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements to support decision-making.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Streamline and improve accounting systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Controller should have:

  • MUST be from a multifamily/residential property management company
  • Have prior line management experience - approximately 3-5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Approximately 10 years experience in Accounting and Finance
  • Prior experience as a strategic partner to the senior leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills
