Job Description

THIS ROLE IS FULLY ON-SITE IN MACost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance

  • Maintain cost accounting systems, cost controls, and data integrity within the manufacturing operation.
  • Apply cost accounting principles to operational planning, reporting, analysis, and decision support.
  • Coordinate and analyze manufacturing operations, including product costing, labor reporting, inventory adjustments, and material usage variance analysis.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of cost flows, including labor, overhead allocation, material costs, and machine-hour drivers.



Inventory Management & Controls

  • Lead physical inventory planning, execution, reconciliation, and analysis activities.
  • Reconcile financial inventory records to perpetual inventory records on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor inventory levels, reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, slow-moving inventory, scrap activity, and intercompany transfers.
  • Monitor cycle count compliance and reporting while supporting improvements in inventory controls.
  • Oversee annual inventory and fixed asset inventory processes.



Standard Costing & Analysis

  • Review bills of materials (BOMs), routings, overhead rates, and cost drivers to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Manage standard cost updates, material standard costs, assembly cost rollups, and inventory valuation adjustments.
  • Analyze cost changes, margin impacts, labor utilization, efficiency metrics, purchase price variances, and material usage variances.
  • Conduct make-versus-buy analysis and support annual standard cost updates.
  • Review and close manufacturing work orders.



Reporting, Process Improvement & Business Partnership

  • Develop reports, dashboards, metrics, and operational analytics to support business decisions. ,
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness within the cost accounting function. ,
  • Create and maintain documentation for cost accounting processes, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing personnel, engineering, production planning, purchasing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain compliance with internal control and SOX requirements.
  • Participate in ad hoc analyses, special projects, and operational improvement initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong manufacturing cost accounting experience in a standard cost environment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through costing, inventory management, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with SOX Section 404 internal control assessments or publicly traded company control environments.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory controls, variance analysis, and manufacturing accounting concepts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.



Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or active CPA candidate.
  • MBA or CMA designation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (formerly Navision).
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
